  1. How do I apply?
  2. What’s the deadline to apply?
    • The deadline to apply is September 8, 2017.
  3. What are the fees?
    • There is a $75 non-refundable application fee, and tuition is $500. Students who enroll in the course will be credited $75 for the application fee.
  4. What’s included in tuition?
    • Tuition includes 45 hours of instruction by a qualified teacher. Tuition does not include the textbook or the registration fee for the TOEFL test.
  5. Where will the TOEFL Preparation class be held?
  6. What will I learn in this class?
    • You will:
      • Learn about the different parts of the test
      • Increase your understanding of advanced grammar points
      • Take practice tests and discuss your scores with your teacher
      • Analyze high-level reading selections using new techniques
      • Practice speaking and listening skills necessary for the test
      • Learn test-taking tips and tricks to improve your scores
      • Identify problems with writing samples
      • Increase your vocabulary knowledge
      • Gain experience with authentic test materials
  7. What level of English do I need to join the class?
    • There is no minimum level of English required. However, PIA recommends that students have at least intermediate-level skills.
  8. How big will the class be?
    • The class will have between eight and 20 students.
  9. When will the TOEFL Preparation class meet?
    • The class will meet from 9 a.m. to 1:05 p.m. on the following dates:
      September 30
      October 7, 14, 21, and 28
      November 4, 11, and 18 (Please note that there will be no class the week of Thanksgiving.)
      December 2, 9, and 16
  10. What’s the missed class policy?
    • Students are responsible for attending every class on time. If a student misses class, they are responsible for contacting the teacher and making up any missed work. Teachers have additional missed/late work policies.
  11. If I arrive in the US after September 30, can I still join the class?
    • Yes, students can join the class through October 7. After that, no new students will be admitted. Students who join late will be counted as absent and will not be able to make up the hours they missed.
  12. How can I register for the TOEFL test?
  13. What book will I use?
  14. How many credits is the class worth?
    • PIA does not award credits. However, using the Carnegie method of hours to credits conversion, TOEFL Preparation’s 45 hours is equivalent to 3 semester credit hours. Students will receive a letter explaining this conversion at the end of the course.
  15. Will I receive a grade?
    • The course is graded on a “pass / no pass” basis.
  16. Will I receive a certificate?
    • PIA provides a certificate of completion and an official letter to students who successfully complete the course.
